RILA Design textiles

Our story

Cloth first. Everything else follows.

RILA Design began with a love of Indian textiles — the depth of an indigo dye vat, the soft imprint of a hand-carved wooden block, the quiet rhythm of a loom. We travel, source and work directly with artisan families who have carried these techniques through generations.

Each length of cloth is chosen before a single pattern is drawn. From there we cut contemporary western silhouettes — a one-shoulder dress, a bias skirt, a shirt made to be worn again and again — so that heritage craft has a place in an everyday wardrobe.

We produce in small runs, ethically, paying fairly and keeping waste low. Nothing here is mass produced, and nothing is meant to be seasonal. Slight variation in print and weave isn't a flaw — it's the fingerprint of the hand that made it.
